In a world full of social media bullying and a lot of negativity, it’s more than obvious that words are very powerful. Whether encouraging or painful, words hold a place in our minds and hearts, for better or for worse. They have power and energy behind them. They leave memories and feelings that if left unchecked can create stuck certain emotions in our bodies and our minds. The ways in which we talk with ourselves and to those around us affects us in many more ways than we may realize.
When it comes to mental health, one needs to frequently tell oneself positive things in order feel better and this is where mantras and affirmations come in. I used to think these were the same at first but actually they are not.
Mantras are more spiritual. It can be a syllable, word or phrase that is recited during meditation. They are of Sanskrit origin; ‘ma‘ meaning ‘mind‘ and ‘tra‘ meaning ‘that which protects.‘ On the other hand, affirmations are specific statements that help you to overcome self-sabotaging, negative thoughts. They help you visualize and create positive changes in your life. An affirmation might be a cute little note that you see each day as a reminder.
You can affirm different things in to your life, such as; happiness, calm, focus, health, wealth, money, self-love, basically any trouble area in your life. It may not manifest immediately, but trust me it does work. You can write your own affirmations or simply get a guided one from my blog and roll with it. Put it in a place that you may easily see it and say it out loud as many times as you can throughout the day. You speak it out loud so your ears can hear it and that it is out in the universe. This process is called rewiring. Basically rewiring your brain to adjust and accept a more positive outlook in life. It is a gradual process so you may not realize your outlook on life is changing, but with time you will see it.
I shall be posting a couple of affirmations daily about different areas in life to get us started.
